We are waiting to board our plane to leave Bali and fly onto our next destination. It’s a bittersweet moment. I have loved getting to know this island, the people, their culture, and the lifestyle. Bali has been the most magical introduction to international travel. Though I am sad to leave Bali behind, I am very much looking forward to exploring Vietnam and everywhere else our adventures will take us.

The things we have done in Bali include a day at the Bali Bird Park, the Bali Reptile Park, the Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest, beach days with friends in Sanur, playing board games with other worldschoolers in a cafe, a tour of an organic farm along with a lovely dinner, a tour of a traditional Balinese family complex, a walk through a rice paddy at night to be surrounded by fireflies, took a tour of the cultural park, watched a traditional Balinese dance, the butterfly park, swimming in waterfalls, visiting different temples, a boat ride across a lake under the stars to be delivered to the other side so we could hike up the calderas rim to watch the most peaceful sunrise, and trying all the delicious foods.

I loved learning about this beautiful culture alongside my favorite people in the world. We have had our struggles adjusting to this new way of living, but it has been very much worth it. As a family, we are getting the hang of traveling full time and being together always. The kids are doing great with schoolwork. Working one on one with them has allowed us to target the areas they are behind in and catch them up, as well as allowing them advance at their own pace on the areas they excel in.

Goodbye Bali, you’ve been magical. I leave a piece of my heart here for always.
