The Six Fingered Man

Vietnam had amazing beaches. The water was really warm, like a bubble bath without the bubbles. The sand was like powder with a lot of shells. I built a gecko with some wet sand. He had shells for eyes and shells on his back and tail for patterns. I loved the beaches there.

We went to a place called Marble Mountain. It was a mountain that had many caves and temples. Inside the biggest cave was actually pretty creepy. The people in Vietnam believe when people do bad things in this life bad things will happen to them in the afterlife. In the cave there were lots of sculptures of examples of what bad things might happen. There was a tiger, a crocodile, and an eel eating people. There were demons chopping off people’s ears and tongues. I think they have it so kids never want to be bad.

We played an imagination game called Dungeons and Dragons in a cafe with other worldschoolers. My character was a old turtle guy called a tordle. I had a companion that was a wolf. I never fought anybody because I was nice. Roland did a backflip and killed Micah with a bomb. It was to watch them fighting each other, but I didn’t join. We played upstairs in a cafe that had animals! They had a dog, two kittens, fish, and lizards. The kitten named Sugar was my favorite. I would sneak down and pet him every time we went, and we went every week.

Sun World is a theme park that has lots of rides. We got to go there twice. It did not have a lot of people, we were almost the only ones! My favorite ride was either the swings or a roller coaster called Paradise Falls. You rode on ATV’s and it was super face. One time, I went on it when it was raining and it kind of hurt. It felt like little rocks shooting at me. A lady tried to take me and Jack to take pictures with us. It was pretty scary. She wanted a picture in front of Kung Fu Panda. I felt like I was getting kidnapped. Autumn saved us though, she just grabbed our hands and walked away.

One day we did a few different things. We had a cooking class where we made Cao Lau, papaya salad, and spring rolls. I liked the Cao Lau the most because it’s soup and I’m a soup monster. The lantern making class was next. Mine is pink, blue, yellow, and green. Each of the colors have meaning. Pink is love, blue is peace, yellow is money, green is nature. It was pretty fun to make my own. Then, we went on the coconut boats. A coconut boat is a circle boat that can rock around a lot. They gave me this sweet hat to wear. It was like a cone made from bamboo to protect you from the sun. There was a big open spot that had a ton of boats and they were doing karaoke to Gangam Style. The lady that was our boat captain kept singing along and it was really funny. There was this one guy that was spinning the boats really fast and you could go for a ride. Micah and Roland went first and then Nora and I took a turn. It was fun! The guy spinning the boat had six toes and fingers on each hand and foot. I thought that was really cool. I had never seen anything like it.

I would go back to Vietnam. I loved the beach, the pool, and the people.
